Project Manager-Contract Machining for DOD and Commercial Aerospace

The  Project Manager has ultimate authority and responsibility for overall success of projects and project execution to achieve on-time, on-budget results. The Project Manager leads small, medium, and large high precision machining projects for with varying levels of risk and scope complexity for DOD and commercial aerospace clients. The person in this role is a key component of fostering relationships and securing new business opportunities with customers, material suppliers, strategic development partners, consultants, and subcontractors.

Project Manager Essential Functions:

• Work collaboratively with Lead Engineer/Engineering and Production/Manufacturing ensuring a balance of meeting or exceeding customer expectations and requirements while achieving the project budget, schedule and risk tolerance
• Develop detailed project plans for product development through various states of design maturity and product life cycles
• Facilitate resource utilization across multiple technical and organizational disciplines
• Project Team Leadership including generating and updating work plans, schedules, tasks, and status
• Manage project scope, identifying and properly addressing deviations
• Risk identification, management, and issue tracking / closure
• Present plans to management teams for approval. Lead project related meetings for kick off, discovery, status update, and close out. Collect status from team members and suppliers and present the aggregated information to management in the form of metrics, risks, and actions.
• Ensure quality system requirements are met – AS9100
• Day-to-day customer relationship, general customer satisfaction, meeting contractual obligations – maintain healthy client relationships
• Coordinate contract review activities between customer, Dynomax, and sub-contractors to ensure activities are completed in a timely fashion
• Generate and keep updated all necessary reports and presentations to communicate project status, obtain necessary support, and maintain accountability

Project Manager Required Competencies:

• Decision Making: Autonomously facilitates the decision-making process to progress actions and tasks towards meeting aggressive milestones, deliverables and cost targets
• Technical Knowledge: Experience with programmatic, quality, and technical Aerospace/aero structure development requirements. Familiar with aerospace drawings, their requirements, notes, and tolerances.
• Manufacturing/Machining: 5+ years of experience with various manufacturing processes related to Aerospace including 3 and 5 axis CNC Milling, Turning, special processes, and assembly.
• Communication: Capable of facilitating verbal and written communication with all levels of a small business organization. Able to clearly present and facilitate complex interactions demanded by customer and/or product deviations and development.
• Program Management Tools: Advanced experience with ERP systems and collaboration tools. Open to learning and bringing new tools to an organization to track and communicate project plans, status, and action item closure
• Subcontractor Management: Capable of managing complex projects requiring coordination with major subcontractors, material suppliers, and strategic partners. Generates contract requirements and task orders for supporting business relationships
• Bachelor's Degree

Project Manager Preferred Competencies:

• BS Degree in Engineering preferred
• Certifications: Achieved Project Management Professional certification is a plus
• Continuous Improvement: Thrive on finding new and exciting ways to improve project management tools and processes to increase efficiency across organizations and multiple projects
• Multi-tasking: Ability to maintain focus on key project objectives with multiple demands from internal and external customers
